Who we work with
Producing and directing for ABC TV, Max developed programs that rated well consistently and were commissioned for repeat seasons. Poh’s Kitchen, The Cook and the Chef and Restoration Australia also sold well into overseas markets, helping showcase Australia to international audiences. Directing crews all round Australia and overseas, Max was able to consistently deliver quality content on tight ABC budgets. Adept at directing short segments and longer, narrative-driven pieces, Max is driven by the challenge of capturing Australia and its denizens in all their glory.
Since leaving the ABC in July 2015 and co-founding Same River, these skills have helped Max craft stories for clients that are engaging and arresting. His background in broadcast television schooled him in visual grammar and the tricky art of capturing genuine human interactions and emotions on camera. With a PhD. in English, Max is well aware of the power of character and narrative, and his murky rock’n’roll past taught him the importance of great music and sound design.
Ian’s background in human environments, graphic design and interactive media, and his 15 years’ experience working in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture and urban design, culminate in a unique skill set.
During his career Ian has developed a particular focus on behaviour change campaigns and visual communications as a powerful tools to convey positive messages for health and wellbeing outcomes. His passion is discovering and implementing the synergy between the built environment and the visual narrative of the city, which has culminated in Ian being at the forefront of place making and urban interventions as a studio director of ASPECT Studios and Urban & Public and now SAME RIVER.
Ian’s creative solutions and campaigns have been acknowledged through numerous awards including the Melbourne Design Awards, Heart Foundation and AILA Urban Design Award. Ian currently leads projects in community behaviour change, place making, city renewal and branding and identity for Federal, State and Local Government clients.
